Our journey began with Deborah, a Howard University alumna whose passion for film-making was kindled in the halls of the Communication/Film department. Her pursuit of this art took her from the bustling streets of Washington, D.C., to the vibrant expanses of California. It was there, working as a floor director at KADY TV 63 and interning at The Late Night - Arsenio Hall Show, where Deborah's vision for a different kind of film company began to take shape.

In the early '90s, alongside James Thompson Jr, Wendell, and the late Juanita Thompson, Deborah co-founded DAT Productions. It was more than a company; it was a family's shared dream. The journey began with "Straight Up!" - a compelling script and trailer centered on Wendell Thompson's dream to become the first professional disabled drag car racer. The project garnered interest from Universal Studios, but it was Deborah's commitment to creative control that led her on a different path.

Years of experience, learning, and an unwavering commitment to storytelling led to the evolution of DATGypsy Productions. With a focus on producing content that resonates with authenticity and personal experiences, DATGypsy Productions emerged as a platform where stories are not just told; they are lived.
